A helpful checklist
Questions to ask your insurance
If this is your first time using insurance for therapy, a quick call to the number on your card can help. You might ask:
- Is outpatient mental health therapy covered under my plan?
- Are telehealth (video) sessions covered?
- Do I have a deductible, and how much of it have I met?
- What is my copay or coinsurance per session?
- Do I need a referral or pre-authorization?
